TITLE : USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO PROMOTE LIBRARY SERVICES IN THE 21ST CENTURY

ABSTRACT: Social media has dramatically changed the way in which libraries interact with their communities. Social media provides new avenues for communicating services, resources, and events. In the 21st century, social media sites such as Face book, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn are necessary tools for communicating with users, improving access, and learning in a digital-first culture. This paper explores how libraries can make maximum use of social media to enhance outreach, increase awareness of products offered, and engage with various audiences. Some strategies that can be explored are virtual book clubs, live webinars, digital storytelling, and creative marketing campaigns in order to improve user interaction and participation. The paper also puts a lot of emphasis on data analytics to understand what the users like about the content in terms of maximizing impact. It addresses issues of privacy of the user, information misrepresentation, and a digital divide. This is a research that focuses on social media as a marketing tool; however, it also seeks to transform vibrant, innovative, and inclusive library communities in this 21st century.
