ABSTRACT: Library and information science education is the study of how people organize, access, and use information in libraries and other information environments. This field of education focuses on the theory and practice of library science, information science, and knowledge management. Library and information science educators teach courses that cover a wide range of topics, including cataloging and classification, reference services, digital libraries, archives, and metadata.

Library and information science education provides students with the knowledge and skills that they need to become effective librarians, archivists, and information professionals. It also prepares them for managerial positions in libraries and other organizations that deal with information management. The education in this field is multi-disciplinary, drawing on fields such as computer science, information science, psychology, sociology, and business.

Graduate programs in library and information science are available at many universities around the world. These programs typically confer master’s degrees in library science or information science, and they prepare students for careers in a variety of information-related fields.
