TITLE: THE EMPOWERING ROLE OF CREATIVE COMMONS IN DIGITAL MEDIA: FOSTERING COLLABORATION AND OPEN ACCESS

ABSTRACT: The digital media landscape has undergone a transformative shift in recent years, leading to a proliferation of creative content across various platforms. This dynamic environment has given rise to issues related to copyright, intellectual property, and the need for an accessible framework that fosters collaboration and knowledge dissemination. In the rapidly evolving digital age, the Creative Commons (CC) movement has emerged as a transformative force in reshaping the landscape of creative content sharing. The traditional copyright system, though vital in protecting creators’ rights, can sometimes stifle innovation and limit the potential for collaboration and knowledge sharing. Creative Commons offers a solution that strikes a balance between safeguarding creators’ interests and promoting open access to knowledge. This article explores the pivotal role of Creative Commons in digital media, examining how its flexible licensing framework empowers creators, fosters collaboration, and enhances the availability of educational resources and cultural heritage.
