TITLE: IMPACT OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA’S THOUGHTS ON CURRENT EDUCATION SYSTEM IN INDIA

ABSTRACT: In this paper, the author’s explore the impact of swami Vivekananda’s thoughts on current education system in India.  Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy revolved around the basic premise that all knowledge is in human mind and no knowledge comes from outside. Swami Vivekananda observed that, if education is to serve the entire human beings in all her dimensions, the pursuit of knowledge will be a lifelong process. At empirical level today’s knowledge explosion can keep all human beings engaged for their entire life. According to swami Vivekananda the end of all training should be men making. Education should help in bringing about all round development of an individual. He gave prime importance to the education of masses. He emphasized that science and religion play a vital role in exploration and unfolding of nature. The ultimate reality, the nature of universe, the nature of consciousness, and the meaning and nature of life itself.  Vivekananda emphasized the use of scientific knowledge trough various branches of modern science as the chief instrument of national regeneration. He supported economic security so he recommended that western technology; engineering and vocational education is a necessary step. The implementation of Right to education as fundamental right by the government   after 63 years of independence is a one step forward in the right direction.
