TITLE :ISSUES, CHALLENGES AND TRENDS IN LIBRARIES OF 21ST CENTURY

ABSTRACT: The revolution in the field of ICT have made boundaries of libraries walls, campuses and even different regions of the world, and expected to open their resources to students to scholars. Libraries facing greater demands for access to resources, digitalization of collections will allow access and exchange of resources. The functions of the librarian have evolved in recent times, moving from “the keeper of the flammable inventory” to that of knowledge navigator. The IFLA President’s “More work needs to be done to ensure that libraries are recognized as engines of development and essential infrastructure for communities”. In this paper we discussed some of the latest trends affecting the libraries and the role of the libraries in the future.
