TITLE :E-RESOURCES USAGES BY THE RESEARCH SCHOLARS OF GJUS&T, HISSAR, INDIA: A STUDY
ABSTRACT :The main purpose of this paper is to examine the use of electronic resources by the research scholars of Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hissar located in Haryana, as provided by the library of the University. Survey method with a structured questionnaire was used to conduct this study. The study found that research scholars were using mainly e-resources (64.70 percent) and daily such as e-journals (43.13 percent), search engines (37.25 percent) and websites (41.17 percent). However majority of them needs training regarding information retrieval (63.72 percent) and discipline specific (36.37 percent). The main purpose of using e-resources is for research and development work (92.15percent), to up-to-date with developments in own field (67.64 percent) and to publishing article/books (55.88 percent). Unable to find the needed e-resource (77.45 percent), no accessibility outside the campus (73.52 percent) and slow access speed (69.60 percent), are the major problems in accessing the e-resources. This study provides the suggestions for further improvement of access of electronic resources to fulfil the research needs of scholars.
