Due to the emergence of World Wide Web, the use of web references has become common in the scholarly research. In order to fulfil the set objectives, we conducted a survey of the scholarly articles published over ten years’ time span (2004-2013). The results reveal that the total of 293 articles were published from the year 2004-2013 with 13468 references, the journal references being the dominating ones contributing 57.94% of the total references. The web references are contributing 16.3% of the total references and have shown a growth rate of 25.72% in 2013 with respect 11.61% in 2004.
